My piece was inspired by Gudetama, a Japanese icon. When coming up with concept ideas I thought of many interesting like octopus or fairy box, but I decided to go with Gudetama. Then I drew the concept art and cut out paper for prints or the shape i wanted it to look. In my original planing I wanted the handle to be on the side of the bowl but i couldn't find a way to keep it there so I just added it to the lid. As it turns out when you put glaze on you can't really put anything on top of it so I ran into the problem of not being able to put on Gudetama face because I glazed him. Although I just drew on his face and will just get it sprayed so it will stay. I really liked how I molded Gudetama he came out great and the glaze came out awesome except that one hiccup. I started out with a drawing then I got some clay and slabbed it so to get out the air bubbles. With greenware I molded it in to my pot using the sliping method and when I found it good enough I put it into the kiln to be fired. It came out as a bisqueware. So that is how I made my clay pot.
