This piece is to show my skill in realistic flowers and a uplifting quote, I picked flowers because they have so much meaning. I started with water coloring the flower then cut out the letters and glue them on. The meaning of the image is to not let things hold you back. I should do my best thing I can do so in my opinion the flower came out well but the letters are messy.
List some reasons that an artist would need to use observation when making artwork: It is because art is an imitation of real life. What are some reasons why artists make art?: To get all of the toughs out of there head before the forget it. What is the point of this class? What did you get out of it? : That this class is about training your art skills. From this class I learned how to draw flowers. In the process of making this I started gluing down tissue paper then I spray painted the moon. Then with acrylic paint I added some stars and finally with watercolor and pencil I made a cat. My theme was animal that you want and favorite thing in the past week. For the first one it is a Hairless cat and the second one was a ring with a moon I got and sitting out in the cold nights.
For the theme of Lines it was the tentacles of the jellyfish. I like how some of the jellyfish turn out but if I had to change I would make the holes deeper. When making the perspective piece I used 1st perspective. Although I didn't take it I choose it because of the colors. I found that I struggled with coloring the stairs. The hallway was the best at helping me to learn perspective. Theses are the warm ups for the portrait piece. Even though it took time to get to it I like the skeleton one that shows the distortion of cartoon characters. Also with the facial proportion I was surprised with how easily the face can be broken down because the face seems so complex.
Where I left off with my clay pottery I had put glaze on the egg part and fired it so it became glazeware. Then I struggled with the paint and I finally finished the piece. The piece is better than I thought it would be, I like how the tiny details on the egg came out. Also even being out on the first day
My piece was inspired by Gudetama, a Japanese icon. When coming up with concept ideas I thought of many interesting like octopus or fairy box, but I decided to go with Gudetama. Then I drew the concept art and cut out paper for prints or the shape i wanted it to look. In my original planing I wanted the handle to be on the side of the bowl but i couldn't find a way to keep it there so I just added it to the lid. As it turns out when you put glaze on you can't really put anything on top of it so I ran into the problem of not being able to put on Gudetama face because I glazed him. Although I just drew on his face and will just get it sprayed so it will stay. I really liked how I molded Gudetama he came out great and the glaze came out awesome except that one hiccup. I started out with a drawing then I got some clay and slabbed it so to get out the air bubbles. With greenware I molded it in to my pot using the sliping method and when I found it good enough I put it into the kiln to be fired. It came out as a bisqueware. So that is how I made my clay pot. When learning about acrylics we did some warm up with them. The most helpful warm up was the rock, fur, and fabric. Also the paint on the piece of plastic was fun. I picked a picture of a squirrel in a tiny tree. I picked this picture because it was when I went to the farmers market and I had a fun time. Here is some work in progress. I started with the brown back ground then added a green layer. I added grass, then the a tree bark and leafs . Then finally the squirrel. This is the finial piece. While working on it I found that the leaves where really easy and though it took some time I like how the grass turned out alright. So the bad, I just didn't have a brush small enough for details for the squirrel and the blending on the tree needs some work.
